Fongyi Academy has over 200 years of history and was built in 1814. It was an examination site for students to practice writing, study and consequently participate in the academic examination for merits.
This academy underwent much suffering and was converted into a hospital and dormitory during the Japanese Ruling Period. By 1985, the academy was designated as municipal historic relics and represented the glamor only by early 2014.
Walking into the traditional courtyard built in Minnan style brings people back into the old days. The schools, lecture halls and lobby of the academy in general were still maintained considerably integral. Outside the red bricks and white walls are the swallow tail styled roof ridge and column painting that demonstrate the aesthetics of traditional architectural craft. Taking a walk in between will inspire nostalgia and the imagination of predecessors studying and learning.
The lovely figurines of the academy simulate the scenes of governor visiting the academy, the market, the martial artists practicing, and lecturing in class, reproducing the routines at the time and it the most popular check-in spots now.
