Formosa Boulevard Station is constructed in triangular symmetry nearly to perfection. The structure of the building looks like fingers of two praying hands, presenting a beautiful arc. The station was designed by Japanese architect Takamatsu Shin. He adopted the imagery of “pressing hands together” to represent thoughts and prayers.

The ceiling of the underground level of Formosa Boulevard Station is a well-known public art piece – Dome of Light. The work is an epic poetry created by Italian artist Narcissus Quagliata, using colored glass to symbolize water, earth, light, and fire.

Many marvelous spots can be found around the station, which is located at the junction of the red and orange line, corresponding to Zhongshan Road and Zhongzheng Road on the surface. Zhongshan Road is known as “the wedding gown street” in Kaohsiung. Anything associated with wedding, such as wedding photography, tailored suits and wedding cakes is provided on the same street. The Laojiang Black Tea Milk runs 24 hours a day, which is a great place for breakfast and nighttime snacks. The traditional black tea mixed with locally produced High Milk creates an aroma of tea, milk and people.

Gien Jia is a restaurant (night bar at night) close to Formosa Boulevard Station. Its name actually sounds like ‘picky’ in Taiwanese. ‘Fishermen’s Noodles’, the restaurant’s special, always uses the freshest ingredients. The cuisine varies on what the fishermen catch on that day. Gien Jia’s special principle and dedication to food not only resonates with its name, but also brings in a lot of customers. The restaurant has become one of the most popular and in-demand restaurants in Kaohsiung.

At night, you can walk across the street to Marsalis Bar to enjoy the chill vibe and wonderful music. If you are lucky, you might get the chance to meet some great musicians from overseas.
