With Reliable Partners, MEAN WELL Is Evolving to Achieve Sustainable Development

Source:MEAN WELL

As the brand expands into the global market and gradually spreads out its influences, MEAN WELL has not only strengthened the operating capabilities of its subsidiaries in America, Europe and Asia, but it has also made new investment in organizational development and transformation this year. While MEAN WELL maintains its low profile as a hidden champion, it's worth noting that the power supply leader is just "hidden" but not "hiding secrets to success." It is ready to call on more partners to transform together towards the goal of a sustainable development group (SDG).

With Reliable Partners, MEAN WELL Is Evolving to Achieve Sustainable Development

In the past, Jerry Lin, the founder of MEAN WELL, used to focus on one thing at a time and doing the one thing to the best, thus leading MEAN WELL to success in the global market. With the unceasing changes of the world, and gradually clear picture of succession planing, Lin has started making the preparation since last year. While MEAN WELL will continue to focus on the power supply business, its affiliates will create opportunities to form the value chain network of the SDG Group.

In this ambitious blueprint, one of the important keys is the new MEAN WELL plant in Suzhou, which will be completed before the end of the year. In addition to being MEAN WELL's largest standard power supply factory, the brand-new plant will also be the most critical experimental field and the largest offline demonstration site of "power product & solutions." In addition to using business partner products that are powered by MEAN WELL in the park to demonstrate the diverse applications of MEAN WELL power supplies, the power supply champion established SHARE WELL Group to once again demonstrate the power of reliable partners.

Focusing on the SDG Vision, MEAN WELL Strives to Build a Centennial Sustainable Enterprise

Looking forward to the future, the Sustainable Development Group (SDG) will consist of three companies (MEAN WELL, SHARE WELL, and POWERNEX) and a public welfare foundation to expand business and give back to the society simultaneously.

The SDG is the abbreviation of Sustainable Development Group and consists of MEAN WELL, POWERNEX, SHARE WELL, and a public welfare foundation.

Jerry Lin explained that the reason SHARE WELL was established in March 2020 was to stimulate more partnerships and possibilities, so that employees in Guangzhou and Suzhou as well as dealer and supplier partners in China can become shareholders of the SDG Group through SHARE WELL, ultimately sharing resources and creating the future together.

On the one hand, SHARE WELL is seeking supply chain collaboration, such as co-development with institutions and electronic wire suppliers; on the other hand, it has also started new businesses such as automation equipment, electrical equipment, magnetic parts, green energy (including incubation centers), and certification. Its operation mode is: Collaboration first to generate mutual trust and agreement, followed by the assistance of SHARE WELL on co-investment. Meanwhile operations are handed over to business partners, resulting in an operation mode similar to a joint venture or an affiliate.

The Pan-MEAN WELL Group also expanded its industrial investment platform through POWERNEX, which was established in 1997. The company sticks to MEAN WELL's vision of evolving into an SDG and explores opportunities for development in relevant industries by investing in the supply chain of power and electronic parts as well as industry peers. At present, the Pan-MEAN WELL Group is moving forward to the goal of a sustainable development group, with more than 20 companies operating in full swing. The Group is expecting to interate 100 ESG businesses by 2030.

SDG Group Blueprint

"We launched the transformation towards an SDG Group, and I hope that this would to inspire our employees to self-motivate and take active participation in the efforts." Jerry Lin indicated that as MEAN WELL is preparing for corporate succession to young generations, he aimed to once again drive the ambition of all employees and business partners to work as a whole through scaling up.

"I often compare the SDG Group to a plane that is taking off. I am the flight instructor of the plane, and my task is to instruct the successor team to drive and guide them in the right direction. When the plane reaches an altitude of 36,000 feet and the autopilot mode is activated, it is the moment for the SDG Group to head into the infinity and beyond!" (Jerry Lin, founder of the SDG Group)

"We'd rather try and make mistakes than stand still!" At the moment when MEAN WELL is celebrating its 40th anniversary, Jerry Lin also hopes to stimulate dialogues, generate new strategies and actions, and find new momentum for future development.

MEAN WELL founder Jerry Lin studied in the EMBA Program at Fu Jen Catholic University during the pandemic. With the supports of professors from Fu Jen, he established the SDG Academy in MEAN WELL in March 2022 to learn and grow together with all management team members.

Investment in Social Welfare to Inspire Humanistic Care

The transformation of the group is taking place in full swing, laying the foundation for future visions. At the same time, MEAN WELL has followed its core value to attach great importance to giving back to society and social welfare. The group launched the first "I Love Tamsui River" charity event in 2011, inviting employees and their families, all dealers, suppliers, and subcontractors to re-examine Taiwan's river ecosystem and make contribution to the beautiful riverbanks. Since 2019, MEAN WELL has also joined hands with CommonWealth Magazine in the filming of documentaries of Tamsui River, with a hope to arouse the public's attention and understanding to environmental issues and stimulate actions.

On April 24, 2022, MEAN WELL and CommonWealth Magazine co-hosted the "Protecting the River by Actions EcoForum" as part of its "I Love Tamsui River" environmental preservation event. MEAN WELL has even set up a public welfare foundation, focusing on the three major topics: humanity, caring, and environmental protection. Together with the core value of integrity and sincerity, the group strives to work for the better, work for the good, and work for the kind to achieve the goal of a centennial sustainable enterprise.
