CommonWealth Magazine Privacy Policy

We welcome you to use the websites of the CommonWealth Magazine Group (including CommonWealth Magazine, CommonWealth Publishing, CommonWealth Education Media and Publishing, the CommonWealth Education Foundation, and Book Garden, referred to below as the “Group”). We ask that you carefully read the Group’s Privacy Policy (referred to below as the “Policy”) to protect your interests and obtain the best possible service.

2. Scope of the Policy

The Policy applies to all Group services, including providing content, and to users registering memberships, leaving comments or questions, purchasing products or courses, registering for activities, or submitting a story. We may at times introduce new services, and if a new service results in a change in the way we collect and use personal information, we will inform you of the changes made. Unless the new service is accompanied by a special explanation, it will still be required to comply with the Policy.

3. How We Collect Your Personal Information

The Group collects your personal information in the ways listed below for specific purposes involving consumer and customer management services, marketing activities, purchasing and supply management, and other business needs consistent with our business registration or company bylaws:

  1. When you browse our website: We will collect information on how you use it, such as the articles you read, where you left off on a particular webpage, the date and time you browsed the webpage, Cookie information, your IP address, your browser type, and the type of device you used to connect to the internet.
  2. When you register as a member: We will collect certain personal information such as your name, email address, and mobile phone number to be able to provide membership services to you.
  3. When you make a submission: We will collect certain personal information such as your name, email address, mobile phone number, personal photo, profession, previous works, ID number, and bank information so that we can contact you about the work submitted, including editing the piece, handling your fee and sending you a free copy of the published work.
  4. When you purchase a Group product or course: You must first register to become a CommonWealth Magazine Group member before proceeding with the transaction. We will collect your name, email address, mobile phone number and address to ensure the product or course admission ticket gets to you.
  5. Entering through the CommonWealth Magazine Group: When you are on another CommonWealth Magazine Group member’s website and log on to use a service, if based on your personal information such as email address, name and mobile phone number you are found to already be registered in the system, your activity on the Group member website will be recorded.
  6. Entering from a third party site: We may collect personal information related to you (please see item 5 below) from third-party websites with which we cooperate, including advertisers, advertising agencies and other partners. We will only use your information, however, if you give your consent to the third party or to the Group to share the information or if you register as a member.

4. How We Use Your Personal Information

  1. If, for example, you participated in a certain series of activities, indicating an interest in that type of activity, and there is new information related to that activity, we will be sure that you are the first to know.

Your request may not be granted if an application does not comply with proper procedures or regulations, or this website has a legal obligation to preserve the information, or the law stipulates otherwise. You are free to choose whether or not you want to provide related information, but if you do not we may not be able to provide certain services to you or optimize services for you.

Also, some of the Group’s websites allow for open discussion (such as posting comments or questions) to encourage user interaction in which users can freely write messages or upload photos. The Group is not authorized to control these posts, and therefore any information you post may be used by others. Please keep in mind protection of personal information when you make a post.

Affiliates of the CommonWealth Magazine Group have the right to change or adjust the content of this Policy at any time.
