Signal defends messaging app's security after US war plan leak
Signal, a popular messaging app, was recently the preferred communication platform for top officials in the Trump administration to discuss secret war plans.
However, the use of the app, widely available on Smartphone App stores, to plan an attack on Iranian-Backed Militants in Yemen likely wouldn't have been made public if a journalist wasn't inadvertently added to the group chat. Ever since the revelation came to light, outcry has been growing among Democrats and intelligence experts, who worry that the case represents a serious mishandling of classified administration and could even violate the law.
Meredith Whittaker, the President of signal, defended the messaging App's security on Wednesday after top Trump administration officials mistakenly included a journalist in an Encrypted Chatroom they used to discuss looming us military action against Yemen's Houthis.
While signal offers more privacy perks compared to other messaging apps, it's not meant for sharing classified government and military information.
The Pentagon recently warned its employees against using signal, the Encrypted Messaging App, due to a technical vulnerability.
The Atlantics editor in chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, revealed on Monday that he had been added to a group chat with President Donald Trump's cabinet members about military strikes on Yemen raising serious national security concerns.

Korean Air, Boeing, GE Aerospace agree to $32.7B commercial air deal
(Source: Reuters)
Korean air has agreed to purchase up to 50 Boeing aircraft and GE aerospace engines worth around $32.7 billion, according to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.
The deal comes as President Donald Trump seeks to boost American manufacturing.
Last year, Korean Air announced an order for 40 Boeing 787 and 777X Wide-Body aircraft at Britain’s Farnborough Airshow, which included an option for 10 more 787 planes.
The US Commerce Department said that the agreement covers Korean Air’s purchase of up to 50 Boeing Wide-Body aircraft manufactured by Boeing using GE aerospace engines.
The announcement comes as the Trump administration has been imposing tariffs on countries and sectoral imports, while threatening further levies.

Canadians, and their dollars, stick to their homes and native land
(Source: AP)
Canadians are skipping vacations in the US due to President Trump's tariff threats and talk of Annexation.
Canadian residents flew back from 585,700 trips to the US in February, a 13.1% decline from February 2024, according to Statistics Canada.
Canadian-Resident return trips by car plummeted 23% in February, year over year, to 1.2 million.
The drop is being attributed to upheaval around U.S.-Canada relations as Trump threatens to make Canada the 51st state.
There are "buy Canadian" signs at alcohol stores and other retailers up north, and Canadian Airlines are cutting seat capacity for trips to the U.S. in upcoming months. Even a 10% drop in Canadian travel spending could cost the American economy $2 billion and result in 14,000 job losses, according to the US travel Association.
