Boeing sees demand for 44,000 new fuel-efficient jets over next 20 years
Boeing has projected a global commercial fleet of 50,000 planes in 2045, more than 90% of which will be more fuel-efficient "new-generation" aircraft.
This compares with today's global fleet of 28,000 airplanes, reflecting higher long-term demand due to economic growth and additional travel routes. plane manufacturers must build nearly 44,000 new planes over the next two decades to meet new growth and replace older planes, according to Boeing's new annual forecast.
In 2045, an estimated 92% of the fleet will have the environmental benefits of the newer fleet, estimated to use about 20% less fuel.

US AI Leaders Call for Pre-Release Testing as China's Kimi K3 Shakes the Market
US AI companies are increasingly urging pre-release testing of frontier AI models before they go out, following the release of yet another Chinese model, Kimi K3, which is said to be as clever as Anthropic's and OpenAI's latest and brightest, except Open-Source and about a tenth of the price.
This has accelerated the share price declines of the US AI and chip companies.
Chinese firms are eating American and European lunches much faster with AI than they did with cars, solar panels, phones, computers, and toys. Just a couple of years after they started, they already have more global AI market share than the Americans.
Demis Hassabis, the head of Google DeepMind, posted an essay urging pre-release testing of AI models.
He was quickly supported by a chorus of other US AI companies.

Fujifilm eyes M&A, partnerships to expand solutions business in Malaysia
Fujifilm Business Innovation Corp is looking to expand its business solutions segment in Malaysia through new ventures, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) as companies in the country increasingly embrace digital transformation.
President and CEO Naoki Hama sees Malaysia as a strategically important market within its Asia-Pacific network and expects the solutions business to continue expanding alongside the country’s digitalisation efforts. Traditional office equipment continues to account for the larger share of its business in Malaysia, although the solutions and services segment has grown to about 30% and continues to expand.
Malaysia is gradually moving towards the level seen in more developed markets in the region, where Digital solutions contribute a significantly larger share of revenue.
Hama attributed the growing demand for solutions to the acceleration of Digital transformation following the Covid-19 pandemic, supported by government initiatives and increasing awareness among Malaysian businesses of the need to digitalise their operations.
Malaysia has served as Fujifilm’s Asia-Pacific regional shared services hub for the past 21 years, supporting markets across Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, and South Korea, excluding China, while also emerging as one of the company’s key growth markets for digital solutions.
