SDG Group Partner Day for 2023 welcomed hundreds of distributors and partners from around the world to join in a lively celebration and to tour the Suzhou MEAN WELL Smart Park. As they were led into a mysterious chamber nestled within the building, they were amazed by the setting that resembled the interior of a spacecraft.

The chamber walls were constructed with expensive electromagnetic absorbers to dampen the reflection of electromagnetic waves. The visitors were in a ten-meter semi-anechoic chamber that tested for electromagnetic and radiation interference. As an independently operated third-party testing and certification laboratory, it complies with international standards, offering customers high-quality testing and certification services worldwide.

SHARE WELL's new certification laboratory was completed in 2023, and boasts comprehensive electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing facilities. It provides complete EMC testing and certification services for electronic, electrical, and communications-related products, along with technical consulting services regarding EMC regulations and system solutions.SHARE WELL's new certification laboratory was completed in 2023 and boasts comprehensive electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing facilities. While such a sophisticated facility is undoubtedly impressive, it is only a tiny part of the 100,000-square-meter production area. The Campus, which commenced operations in late 2022, is 1.6 times larger than MEAN WELL's Guangzhou plant and 6.8 times larger than its plant in Taiwan.

In this venture, MEAN WELL has invested a massive 4 billion NT dollars to create a brand- new campus with a total construction area of 100,000 square meters and a workforce of 1,000 employees. This state-of-the-art facility enables an annual production capacity approaching one hundred million units—making it the world's most extensive standard power supply production base—and embodies MEAN WELL's commitment to the SDG Group strategy. As a crucial hub for collaboration with suppliers, partner factories, and distributors, MEAN WELL projects that it will achieve its goal of creating more than 100 ESG companies by 2030.

Integrating new and pre-existing production facilities to drive growth

After renovations, MEAN WELL's original factory in Suzhou has shifted its focus to supporting the development of its subsidiary SHARE WELL. The newly constructed Suzhou MEAN WELL Smart Park is home to a highly automated production facility that follows Intelligence, Eco-friendly, Green energy, Automation, Standardization, Globalization. In addition, the Park also serves as an ideal platform for showcasing standard power supply solutions.

At the Campus, visitors can explore smart systems showcased by PBM partners from various fields, such as communications, environmental protection, safety, and fire prevention, as well as access control. These systems comprise equipment for smart lighting, air conditioning and heating, environmental monitoring, access control, a VFD-driven BLDC musical fountain, decentralized solar power, rainwater harvesting, and EV charging stations. All these systems play a crucial role in the overall functioning of the Campus.

The Suzhou MEAN WELL Smart Park currently includes five buildings: the Comprehensive Building, the Logistics Building, the Manufacturing Building, the Partner Building, and the Living Building. The Comprehensive Building houses Suzhou MEAN WELL Technology's headquarters, an exhibition center, Suzhou SHARE WELL Certification's headquarters, SHARE WELL Green Energy Technology, an incubation center, and SHARE WELL Building Automation & Intelligence Association. Through these facilities, the Campus aims to strengthen the Group's R&D and design capabilities to enhance product competitiveness.

The Partner Building houses Suzhou SHARE WELL Automation Technology, Suzhou SHARE WELL SMD Technology, and Suzhou SHARE WELL Magnetic Technology. The entire Manufacturing Building is for SHARE WELL Manufacturing, and the two wings include areas dedicated to automated manufacturing, production lines, and assembly and testing lines. The Logistics Building serves as an international logistics and trans-shipment center, supporting the Group and its partners with warehousing and logistics services. The Living Building offers services to people at the Campus, and includes an employee dining area, activity room, and audiovisual room. By bringing all the aforementioned functions as well as sales and after-sales service together, the Campus is a comprehensive, fully integrated campus.

The sustainable development strategy of the SDG Group requires a coordinated effort driven by three major brands, each with distinct yet complementary roles. MEAN WELL will continue to represent power supply expertise while raising its global brand value. The PowerNex brand will focus on investing and collaborating in global power supply-related industries. SHARE, WELL, primarily located in Suzhou, is committed to developing green energy technologies in China and integrating resources and businesses across the country's power supply and power electronics components supply chains.

Consequently, at the Suzhou MEAN WELL Smart Park various power electronics projects associated with SHARE WELL are ongoing. These projects span manufacturing technology, logistics and warehousing, Smart Building Automation, green energy technology, automation equipment, SMT mounting technology, magnetic components, stamping technology, cables, injection molding technology, and certification testing. SHARE WELL is extending its reach into various business domains by sharing resources with partners and collaboratively building new ventures.

Smart tech and automation shine as manufacturing and R&D are upgraded

The MEAN WELL Group's Greater China CEO Alex Tsai points out that in line with the Group's objectives, the short-term plan is to achieve global revenues of 2 billion USD by 2024, with a greater ambition of surpassing the 5 billion USD mark by 2030. Suzhou SHARE WELL Technology General Manager Alan Liu further emphasizes that each company is strategically positioned to become a leading green energy technology enterprise within the SHARE WELL Group. This involves integrating key vendors throughout the supply chain, fostering a closely knit ecosystem within the power supply industry. Liu also estimates achieving a revenue target of 2 billion RMB by 2026 and anticipates entering the pre-listing tutoring process.

Setting up automated production lines and increasing capacity, coupled with the growth of SHARE WELL businesses, will undoubtedly be key to achieving these goals. And it is these two major pillars of growth that underlie the character of the Suzhou MEAN WELL Smart Park.

For instance, Suzhou SHARE WELL Automation Technology Company is a joint venture between the SHARE WELL Group and FACC Automation dedicated to R&D, manufacturing, sales, and service for industrial automation equipment. Suzhou SHARE WELL SMD Technology focuses on highly automated surface-mount technology (SMT) and insertion mount machine-based assembly in partnership with Goodwin Electronic. As for SHARE WELL Magnetic Technology, it is a collaboration with Suzhou Yang-Chi Electronics to develop highly automated production of inductors and electromagnetic components. A partnership with Wan Cheng Precise Electronics (Chongqing) has led to the establishment of Suzhou CHENG WELL Precision Technology, which specializes in the highly automated production and sales of metal stamping components. Meanwhile, Suzhou SHARE WELL Precision Technology is working with Suzhou Carima Precision Electronics and focuses on highly automated injection molding solutions. The partnership will continue in the future to pursue new projects in highly automated production of power cables.
