Wall Street giants partner with Nvidia on $500bn AI financing deal
The world's largest financial groups, including Apollo Global, Blackstone, BlackRock's global infrastructure partners unit, Brookfield Asset Management, Goldman Sachs, and KKR, are partnering with Nvidia to assemble a $500Bn funding package for AI infrastructure development.
The partnership underscores Nvidia's growing efforts to raise capital for itself and its clients to continue assembling the chips, power production, and data centers at the heart of the AI boom.
It also shows how Nvidia is building relationships with the giants of the private capital industry, which are collectively preparing to invest trillions of dollars of their insurance, retail, and institutional investor assets into AI infrastructure.
The deal could be announced as soon as Monday.
Nvidia has already inked hundreds of billions of dollars' worth of deals with companies across the AI ecosystem, stoking concerns among some investors that the chip giant is inflating demand and valuations across the industry through the circular nature of such agreements.
The company just expanded a partnership with South Korean conglomerate SK Group last month and said the companies will do more than $500Bn in business with each other.

J.P. Morgan lifts 2026-end target for S&P 500 to 8,000 on AI, earnings strength
J.P. Morgan has raised its year-end target for the S&P 500 index to 8,000 from 7,800, citing solid corporate earnings and rising confidence that AI investments by large Hyperscalers would drive faster revenue growth.
The new target implies about 3.1% upside from the index's last close of 7,757.64 and adds to a growing wave of bullish calls, with at least seven brokerages now expecting the benchmark to reach the 8,000 level by 2026-end.
J.P. Morgan analysts said, "as elevated Backlogs convert into recognized revenue, cloud growth should remain well supported, helping validate rising AI Capex, strengthen order coverage, and further ease RoIC (return on invested capital) concerns." The brokerage also revised its S&P 500 earnings-per-share forecasts to $365 for 2026 and to $420 for 2027. Of the 436 S&P 500 companies that had reported June-Quarter results through Friday morning, 85.1% beat analyst expectations, according to LSEG data.
The second-quarter earnings season has produced evidence that capital expenditure by the so-called AI hyperscalers is being monetized through customer demand, the JPMorgan team said.
They cited stronger cloud growth and increased backlogs at Alphabet, Amazon.com, and Microsoft Corp. that should reduce worries over return on their invested capital.

US House Democrats press Anthropic, OpenAI about rogue AI agents
A coalition of US House Democrats has called on Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to explain how their AI systems escaped containment during a security test, adding that Congress should hold hearings about the incidents.
OpenAI and Anthropic disclosed in July that their AI agents had broken out of their environments and hacked into the systems of other companies during Cybersecurity tests.
The lawmakers, led by representatives Greg Casar and Doris Matsui, pressed OpenAI to explain how its AI agents are monitored during testing, and whether the rogue models evaded the company's safety controls.
The lawmakers cited a Reuters report that said there were cases when monitoring systems had been disconnected during earlier tests of the OpenAI models. In a separate letter, 22 lawmakers asked Anthropic to detail any safety protocols that the company has implemented since its agents broke into the systems of three companies. "These deeply troubling cybersecurity incidents could have serious implications for America's national security," the lawmakers wrote in their message to Anthropic.
The letters are part of a widening debate in Washington over how aggressively to police a fast-moving AI industry that has largely operated without new Federal standards.
