TSMC to invest $1.8 billion in joint venture with Sony for image sensors
Sony Group and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) are set to invest a combined $4.7Bn in a joint venture to produce Next-Generation image sensors for Smartphones. A joint venture owned 60% by Sony and 40% by TSMC will start commercial production as early as 2029 in Southern Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture.
The two Tech giants said in May they planned to form a joint venture in Japan to develop and manufacture Next-Generation image sensors, combining Sony's sensor design expertise with Tsmc's manufacturing and process technology strengths.
The move by TSMC and Sony represents an unusual alliance born from growing concern over a stagnant Smartphone market and rising South Korean and Chinese competition. Image sensor chips typically are built by stacking a sensor layer and a logic circuit layer. Up to now, Sony has handled manufacturing of the sensor layer, while TSMC has produced the circuit layer on a contract basis.

Zelenskiy: Ukraine Has Given US Negotiators Proposals for Ending the War With Russia
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has presented proposals to US negotiators for a plan to end the war with Moscow and suggested that Russia would use its parliamentary election next month as a pretext to declare a new Mobilisation.
Zelenskyy said he had received a report from Ukraine's negotiating team and that Kyiv had already conveyed its proposals to Washington.
He stated that the proposals had been passed to the US side.
According to Zelenskyy, the United States could help strengthen Ukraine's defences, particularly in the field of air defence, and put pressure on Russia so that its plans are different--to prepare for an end to the war rather than prolonging it.
Meanwhile, Kyiv expects Washington to use its influence to increase pressure on Russia.
Zelenskyy argued that such efforts are necessary to change Moscow's approach and prevent further prolongation of the war.
Meanwhile, the US is preparing options to increase pressure on Russia. A bipartisan sanctions bill targeting Russia and Iran, which was previously approved by the Senate, has been introduced in the House of Representatives.

CoreWeave Revenue Surges on Booming Demand for AI Computing
Cloud-Computing firm Coreweave Inc. reported its fifth consecutive quarter of record revenue and a sales backlog of $104 billion, a reflection of the continued strength of demand for Artificial-Intelligence computing.
The company BUYS advanced ai chips known as Graphics processing units from Nvidia, installs them in data centers and leases them to companies such as Microsoft and Openai.
Coreweave's shares have been on a roll lately after a Monthslong slump, but quarterly results tend to bring out the worst in the stock, which has fallen after each of the company's last five earnings reports, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
The 8-year-old company has become a bellwether for the ai data center frenzy.
Wall Street firms pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into the Build-Out of Digital infrastructure are closely watching its performance since it's one of the few ai computing suppliers, known as Neoclouds, that are publicly traded.
