Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang wants every country to build its own AI, Unveils DSX Pod AI factory
Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, is working to spread the AI boom beyond the US and China by courting governments, bankrolling startups, and cultivating massive new markets for Nvidia's chips.
Huang is trying to single-handedly build a new market for Nvidia chips, betting that governments and institutions around the world will want their own, highly customized data centers running open models.
If it works, it could shore up demand for Nvidia chips just as another big group of customers, Neoclouds, appear financially shaky. At the heart of Huang's global strategy is "sovereign AI," the idea that every nation should build and control its own AI infrastructure, data, and models, rather than depend on U.S. or Chinese Tech giants.
In addition to roughly $10 billion in investments in Europe, Nvidia is helping build national AI ecosystems across Saudi Arabia, South Korea, India, Malaysia, and Africa.
For Huang, the prize is a vast new class of customers, including entire countries that see AI infrastructure as an economic and national security imperative.
Nvidia also has launched a new product called the DSX Pod AI factory, which will put seven of its Vera Rubin AI racks into a shipping container.
The DSX Pod AI factory is roughly the size of a standard shipping container and weighs about 28,000 kilograms.
It's designed to be shipped on a truck on normal roads and all the cabling and liquid cooling for the Pod are assembled at the factory, the company said.
The pod is intended for customers worldwide and could help address deployment challenges faced by European customers.
Nvidia did not announce a price for the system, but analysts say a single Vera Rubin rack can cost over $7 million.

OpenAI brings its frontier models to rival Google Cloud
OpenAI is bringing its AI models and Codex coding tools to Google cloud, expanding its reach to customers of all three major US cloud providers, including companies that are also among its fiercest AI rivals.
The move underscores a growing recognition that winning the enterprise AI race isn't just about building the smartest models.
It's also about making those models available wherever businesses already run their software and store their data.
For OpenAI, the agreement offers another way to reach corporate customers without requiring them to establish a separate relationship with the ChatGPT-maker.
For Google, it means selling a competitor's ai models alongside its own Gemini offerings, potentially capturing business that might otherwise go to rival cloud providers.
Under the agreement announced Wednesday, Google cloud customers will be able to purchase OpenAI's frontier models through Google's "model garden and marketplace," including by using existing cloud spending commitments.
The deal also brings OpenAI models to Google's Antigravity development environment and Gemini agent.
General availability is planned in the coming weeks.
The agreement follows OpenAI's expansion onto Amazon web services earlier this year, after changes to its Microsoft partnership opened the door to broader cloud distribution.
Amazon has since expanded the OpenAI models and services available through its bedrock platform, although neither company has publicly quantified the additional business generated by the arrangement.

Report: Musk Ordered Reduction in Starshield Services for Ukraine
Elon Musk ordered a reduction in Starshield services for Ukraine after the Tech billionaire said any limits on the SpaceX-operated communications system would ultimately have come from the President. Musk capped the speed at which Ukrainian equipment could connect to the system, making some of Kyiv's drones useless.
Kyiv has accused Washington of deliberately slowing speeds at which Starshield can be used effectively--a charge denied last week by US President Donald Trump. Musk had previously said that "any limits on speed or usage" of Starshield systems were "decided by the US military and ultimately Potus," referring to Trump.
